The Jones family are original pioneers of Marlborough, with William Jones founding the Starborough homestead and sheep station in 1865. Four generations later the original Starborough homestead block in the Awatere valley continues to thrive – with the best sites on that station converted to vines in the 1990s, and now producing world class wine. James Jones, founder of Starborough wines, and great grandson of pioneer William Jones, believes attention to detail in the vineyard is vital to producing wines of great quality, concentration and integrity.
